Copyright on UCPH
Texts are most often subject to copyright, and it is therefore not legal to reproduce them without special permission from the author or publisher. The University of Copenhagen has an agreement with Copydan, which to a limited extent grants permission to print texts that are subject to copyright. The limitation of the agreement is conditioned by how large a part of the source is to be printed. If you stay within the agreement (see next point), it is not necessary to obtain additional permissions.
The University of Copenhagen's copyright agreement
Max. 20% or 50 pages from one source (regardless of the year the source was printed) - whichever limit is reached first.
Texts that do not fall under the University of Copenhagen's agreement
Text publications that do not fall under the University of Copenhagen's copyright agreement, and therefore can be used without following the rules, include, among others: unpublished material (here you must have written permission from the author), texts by an author who has been dead for more than 70 years, as well as legal texts, circulars, regulations and the like. If you are in doubt, you are always welcome to contact us.
Rules for using websites
A maximum of 50 printed pages from a website may be used in a printed compendium. The percentage rule does not apply in this case.
However, the 50-page rule does not apply to websites that require special access (e.g. membership or company login). This means that you cannot freely use these texts, which originate from secured databases. In these cases, special permissions must usually be obtained if you wish to reproduce the material.
